Vice President of Public Relations for the Kappa Delta sorority at Virginia Tech

My application was long. It was detailed. It was visual. I wanted this position because I needed to bring all of my ideas to life. My main goal while serving my term as VP of Public Relations is to creatively highlight all of the incredibly unique personalities that make up the KD chapter at Virginia Tech via social media. We have girls that are athletes, that run YouTube accounts, that are entrepreneurs, that have fitness and lifestyle blogs. We have women who thrift, redesign, and then resell clothing, women that crave traveling and experiencing the world, women that love to make a purpose in other’s lives.

As 2020 ends and 2021 begins, we are entering the new year still heavily dependent on virtual tactics to complete everyday activities such as meetings, grocery shopping, seeing friends, and more.

Due to safety reasons, Virginia Tech’s 2021 sorority rush process was moved entirely on Zoom. This means the sororities’ social media accounts were more important than ever before. These accounts are the new girl’s go-to place to get an initial feel for each sorority. I wanted them to be WOWED as their first impression. I wanted people to see that we were more than just faces on an Instagram page and so, I decided to create the first Kappaa Delta sorority blog.

The First Ever Sorority Blog

In March of 2020, I published a very personal piece that touched on eating disorders and the sorority rush process to an organization called 28 Row’s blog. Ever since then, my mind had been curating this idea and now, 10 months later, I finally was able to bring it to life and publish the site.
